FAQ

  • Cabinet refinishing and cabinet refacing are two different processes for updating cabinets.

    Cabinet Refinishing:

Cabinet refinishing involves updating the appearance of existing cabinets by stripping off the old finish, sanding down the wood, and applying a new stain or finish. With this approach, homeowners are able to keep their existing cabinet doors or drawer fronts. It focuses on refreshing the existing wood surfaces.

Cabinet refinishing is far less expensive than refacing because it involves less material.

    Cabinet Refacing:

Cabinet refacing involves replacing the cabinet doors, drawer fronts, and sometimes even the hardware, while keeping the existing cabinet boxes intact.

Cabinet refacing typically involves gluing a matching veneer or laminate material to the existing cabinet boxes.

    Hybrid Cabinet Refacing:

With this option, we replace drawer fronts, cabinet doors and hardware. Rather than gluing a veneer or laminate over the cabinet box, we refinish them to match the doors and drawers.

  • The timespan depends on the size of the kitchen, but the average cabinet refinishing job takes about one week to complete.

  • Typically, yes.

In instances where we spray the cabinet box, you’ll want to remove everything.

If we are brushing the exterior of the cabinet box you may be able to leave some items in place.

  • This depends on the size of the job and the type of finish.

However, cabinet refinishing or hybrid cabinet refacing is much more economical than traditional refacing or ripping and replacing your cabinets.

  • We can repair many issues, but for cabinets that are beyond repair, we can replace doors, drawers and parts as needed.

  • You can choose the door knobs and pulls you’d like.

We can also replace hinges, and will work with you to determine the right type of hinge for your cabinetry.

These decisions are made at the beginning of the project, before we get to work. Once we have the new hardware, we can fill the old holes in the door and drawer front and drill new ones for the new hardware.

  • We don’t install countertops, but can provide references.

If you want to keep your existing countertops, great! Cabinet refinishing allows you to keep the countertops you have.

  • The tools we use and our process ensures minimal dust and debris.

Our sanding equipment is connected to a HEPA vac system, which reduces dust to an absolute minimum.

When we spray in your home, a temporary containment wall is put in place and we use ventilation equipment to ensure the process is as oderless as possible.

We also clean up and remove tools and equipment the end of each workday to minimize disruption to your home.
